Photographs From Real Plumbing Jobs
Every picture below came off a job. None of it is stock photography. The set spans residential service calls, commercial kitchens, mechanical rooms and rooftops across Anaheim and the Orange County cities The Local Plumber has worked in since 1999.
You will find water heaters and boilers, backflow preventers and fire-service assemblies, sewer camera work, trenching for water and gas lines, corroded galvanized pipe pulled out of slabs and crawl spaces, and the fixtures and piping that replaced it.
Dates on the photographs run from 2016 through to jobs finished this year, which is roughly how long it takes to build a set like this one call at a time. Some of it is unglamorous — a floor sink with the strainer out, a cleanout in a plank floor, a trench in a front lawn next to a gas meter. That is most of plumbing. The interesting part is usually what the picture explains about why something failed.
What These Jobs Have in Common
Most of this work started as a symptom — no hot water, a drain backing up, a damp patch on a slab, a failed inspection — and ended at a cause: a corroded transition fitting, a builder-grade tank at the end of its life, grease in a restaurant lateral, roots at a sewer joint. Diagnosis first, then the repair. A clog cleared without finding out why it formed is a clog that comes back.
The commercial photographs reflect a side of the business that goes back four generations. Bill Bangert’s great-grandfather connected house sewers to the new Chicago sewer system in the 1890s; the family worked California hospitals, schools and high-rises from the 1940s on. The company still handles mechanical rooms, dish rooms and fire-service piping alongside everyday residential service calls.
